We had a great time seeing how a grocery store works!  We watched the Deli slice cheese, saw how Bakery decorated cakes, and named lots of fruits and veggies in the Produce section.  We also went behind the “Employees Only” door and saw all the stock rooms.  Back at school, we set up our own store with cashiers and shoppers.  What a fun field trip!

Away to the pumpkin patch October 11, 2008

What a fun field trip!  All of the children at My Smart World preschool visited a local pumpkin patch.  They wandered through a maze, took lots of fun pictures, and saw what real turkeys look like!

Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum

From the comfort of our own school the children had the opportunity to see both live and preserved animals, insects, plants, and fish. Exhibits were designed to teach the children the life cycles of each species examined. Thank you Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum for a hands-on discovery experience that each child loved.

One teacher described the experience like this:

We had a special visitor come to our school from the Bean Museum. He talked to us about different baby animals. We learned that some babies grow to look just like their parents, (like humans) while other change a lot! We saw eggs, chrysalis, and some stuffed baby animals. We also got to pet a real python named Cuddles, a tortoise named Thunder, and an African millipede named Smaug. What a neat experience!
